Facts of differences

China middle school: kids still have home room. Teacher goes to different rooms to teach.

Pros: set classmates becomes lifelong friends.

Cons: if you are unlucky to be the lonely one then you are stuck.

US middle school: swarms of kids carry their 30lb backpack touring through different classrooms during different periods

Pros: each period with a different group of people one semester you probably know everyone  in your grade. Chances are you will find some friends.

      Cons: physical chaos in hallway.

Vote: US

My nursery songs for sleepless nights

When Tyler is sick, this is the song I sing for him when we are in the dark sleepless
nights. It's a Chinese hymn. I wish I could find the English version.

清晨的日光

虽经漫漫长夜,
晚星也都已消灭,
神却未曾忘记祂所定的永约;

你使卑贱无望人得享喜乐;
当我们正徘徊在死荫之地离不开,
有一清晨的日光从天而来。
你是神人的调和,
你是人中的圣者,
我们从你看见人性的美德;
如此救主我爱戴,
向你全心献敬拜,
赞美你,
今住我卑微胸怀!

Two musketeers

These two little musketeers are growing like weeds. While I am burying my head in providing the food, training them into sleep, changing diapers and clothes, they've grown so much already.

Tristan is in a regular day care now. It gave him a bigger place and a lot more resources to play and learn. Hopefully he will make some good friends. It takes him a while to get comfortable around the new environment. He is talking a whole lot more. On the way to/from daycare, anything he doesn't know he would ask: what is that? Mama? What is it? When you call Tristan, he would automatically say "No!!" These couple of days, it's all about excavators, wheel loaders, trucks, and motorcycles. He would give Daddy/Mama a timeout occasionally while he is frustrated. He thought he can drive. He loves outdoor playing. Gained some weight while his Laolao was here, and maybe lost those by now.

Tyler is in the process of getting sleep trained. Every night at 1AM he would cry so hard and then lift his head up to see if his Mama reacts. When Tristan gets near, Tyler would try to grab his big brother's hair and chew on it. Personality wise, he seems a carefree type. He only cries when he is really hungry.

They bring so much joy in my life. I wish time slows down. I wish I could spend more time with them.

Enunciation!

Tristan started talking a little bit. Mixed English, Chinese and his babbling. The clearest word is No!!! Whatever you say: in english or chinese, his first reaction and clear word is NO!!!!

Tristan, come over!
No!

Tristan, Are you hungry?
No!

Do you want to go outside?
No!

At least we are having a conversation.

I am amazed by that! Did this represent human's rebellious nature inside?

Here are other words he could say:
Mama
Daddy
爸爸(Baba)( Chinese for Daddy)
Daba ( I think he mixed Chinese and English together for calling Daddy )
Nana ( both for Granny and Banana)
Papaw
袜子 (Wa Zi ) ( Means socks)
Shoes
Pants
Music ( Not very clear though)
Hi!
Bye!
喂 (Wei) ( First word you will hear when you call a Chinese on the phone)
Waffle
灯灯(deng deng) ( Means lights)
Mil(k) ( There is no k for that word)
Juice
B.... b..... ( Belly Button)
Tristan ( not clear)
I can't wait for him to tell me how his day went. What did he play and who he played with. He is sleeping through his night nost of the time. It's a lot of fun these days to enjoy this chubby cherub time.
